RELEASED TODAY! Climate Change Plan for Green Growth

Today, Nova Scotia released the long awaited Climate Change Plan for Green Growth.

Bicycle Nova Scotia has been advocating for over a decade for commitments to low carbon and active transportation. We are pleased to see a continued commitment to the Blue Route in the plan, and a reiteration of the Environmental Goals and Climate Change Reduction Act goal of developing an active transportation strategy which is legislated to be completed by the end of 2023 (Action 43). The Climate Change Plan also commits funding to continued rebates for e-bikes (Action 36) – as to date 3500 Nova Scotians’ have purchased e-bikes using the existing rebate program. Inclusion of cycling infrastructure, commitment to a province wide strategy and financial incentives in the Plan means that all the work that BNS and others are doing to make cycling accessible and fun are being recognized as vital in meeting our greenhouse gas emissions goals. One more reason to enjoy riding a bike !
