Blue Route Opening in Dartmouth!
We are very excited to announce that a new section of the Blue Route Provincial Cycling Network has been opened in Dartmouth. In partnership with the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works, and the Halifax Regional Municipality, Blue Route signage was installed along the Dartmouth Harbourwalk. The new section includes the scenic 3km of trail between the Woodside Ferry Terminal and the Alderney Ferry Terminal.
The Blue Route is a province-wide project to create a continuous 3,000km network of cycling infrastructure. By developing safe, well-connected cycling routes, the Blue Route will make it easier for Nova Scotians to get around the province by bike.
This section represents a big step forward in connecting destination trails within HRM and Halifax and Dartmouth. Work continues to have the Blue Route continue right through Halifax and connect with the Chain of Lakes Trail.
Not only is this section of trail now part of the Blue Route Cycling Network, it is also part of the Trans Canada Trail, connecting all of Canada with the longest multi-use trail system in the world!
The trail can be accessed directly from the Dartmouth waterfront, or with a quick ferry ride from Halifax. We hope to see you cycling on the Blue Route soon.
